IMA

The IMA technology is protected by a worldwide patent registered by Abate Basilio and has been specifically designed for containers with handles. The in-mould handle assembly does not require any labour and it allows for the optimization of the process 24/7.

The advantages are evident: there is no need for additional moulds and presses, the in-mould mechanical system excludes any error, provides highest flexibility as well as energy savings and customization of the handle for easy storage and moulding.

The handle assembly onto the container is fully automated with multiple co-injections: 1 piece – 1bucket + 1 handle – 1 cycle.

When evaluating the IMA technology it is worth bearing in mind the following:

  • Handle assembly does not require additional labour since the operation is automatic and continuous 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • No additional moulds and machines for the handle are required.

  • Special attention is paid to the containers intended for food purpose which are packaged abiding to all the specific hygiene standards.

  • Maximum flexibility of the automation which is easy and standard (just for IML and pick and place) and needs minimum resources to change the format.

  • The mould can be designed to ensure the horizontal position of the handle after being fitted in order to make the offset decoration and stacking operations easier.

  • The IMA technology is different from any other present on the market because it allows to design the handle independently from the container (2 separate cavities).

  • The IMA system is entirely mechanically operated, and therefore there is no possibility of faults. Only ordinary maintenance is required and there is no need for external automation.

  • Reliability and long life of the mould are guaranteed.

  • IMA mould has been designed for the optimization of the IML system.

Our production line includes 5-axis machining centres with fully automatic tool and pallets changers which allow us to achieve maximum repeatability and quickest throughput. Our machines are equipped with a laser control of the real dimensions directly obtained during the process in order to achieve the maximum precisions.
